Pune Day 3 - Balewadi Day 1

Music in the lobby this am

Tatyana practicing what Gulnaaz taught yesterday, before the class starts, malasana bring knees and head to the floor without letting the thighs separate from the abdomen at all and then come back up keep touching!!This is similar to women prostrating, you may have seen women doing this to Guruji, men lie flat down but that is not proper for women, but she is teaching an asana not a prostration, she is saying thighs abdomen must touch ...

 Class starting soon
Bostonites - Manju and Jarvis, 2 wonderful teachers in Boston

Standing poses - you must stand to learn, you must become active to receive

She also taught some great arm work, showing the difference in arms up by going straight forward and arms up from the side. How the thighs move forward more with arms forward, when straight out to the side the lumbar is neutral but when the forearm hands turn to take the arms up the lumbar moves in. She taught a lot on the outer back leg in Virahradrasana I, the back leg is heavy (earth) and to use the outer knee extension through the outer leg to bring lightness, she showed using a belt pulled lightly on different part of the back leg, not with force. What i loved was when she said 'its not just Trikonasana/Parsvakonasana who would want to do that?'  I had to bite my tongue to not yell 'Not Me'

Savasana/Pranayama in the later session

Winnie, from Bethesda..i have heard her name many times on the John Schumacher audios!

The afternoon presentation was on props

during the prop presentation, Abhijata went up in sirsasana and Raya put a weight, a heavy weight, with a belt looped though, he placed the belt on the front of her foot, she is talking through this and then he moved the weight through her legs to hang down the back of her leg, he had tried to move it to hang from her heels but it didnt stay so the moved it through her legs if that makes sense, anyway...wow

Followed by a visit to the institute

 Shopping at the institute
